The free daily newspapers such as MetroXpress and Urban has failed online. They have no users and no advertisers.
The concept of the free newspapers works on print, but not online. Stig Møller Christensen, co-lead on QVARTZ’s Media team and expert on digital medias, explains that the free newspapers have no actual justification on the internet because on the internet, everything is free. The result is that users and advertisers are fleeing the scene and the faith of the free newspapers online is uncertain.
