Isa knows her proteins

Before joining QVARTZ as a Consultant in January, Isa Kristina Kirk was a PhD researcher at the Center for Protein Research at Copenhagen University. This week, an article about Isa’s research was published in Cell Systems, a broad, multidisciplinary monthly journal for outstanding research. In her PhD research, Isa conducted a study on how proteins interact and how these interactions influence disorders involving large chromosome disruptions, e.g. when having an extra chromosome as observed in Down syndrome or in certain cancer types. The method developed in the study enables identification of genes associated with the chromosomal disorder. Such genes can potentially be therapeutic targets and used for treatment purposes in certain cancers. Congratulations, Isa!
