Professors do not motivate appropriately

August 7, 2009

Board member of QVARTZ, Dr. Peter Lorange want to break the silo thinking at business schools which he feels is common at business schools all over the world.

In order to do so, Dr. Peter Lorange has bought his own business school, Zürich Graduate School of Business Administration. Currently, professors are acknowledged and paid for their professional competences and intensity of research rather than the usefulness of their research. The result is silo thinking which affects the ability and level of cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The point is supported by strategy expert from QVARTZ, Lars Bo Hansen. He points out that it should be the first job of business schools to bring together competencies and enable knowledge sharing across fields and schools.
