QVARTZ DOGBITERS: Ischa is a cultural chameleon

“I really appreciate the dynamics between the Swedish consensus culture, the Danish flat hierarchies and the Dutch direct attitude”. Ischa van der Kooij knows quite a bit about living and working in different European cultures. He is born and raised in the Netherlands, but moved to Sweden to study, and joined QVARTZ in Copenhagen as a Junior Consultant in 2013. “When I first got in contact with QVARTZ, I felt very welcomed as an ‘international’, yet I clearly recognised that this was a company with Scandinavian roots, which is something that attracted me at the time – and still does”.

Ischa is now a Senior Consultant, and he is happy to spread his professional engagements quite evenly between Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands. In 2015, he started working on a project for a Swedish client, which was in the process of acquiring a Dutch company. As a natural extension, Ischa engaged with the Dutch counterpart and has since supported them on a range of M&A projects. In his time off work, Ischa is a big fan of outdoors sports, especially wave surfing, “I can study weather maps and the coastline all day to find the perfect ride. During a cold winter storm, you’ll most likely find me in the water along the east coast of Sweden”. Surf on, Ischa. It’s great to have you on the team!
