“It is amazing how much you can do in just one week!” Emil Sydendal Hansen and Lukas Beyer, Political Science students from Aarhus University and the University of Copenhagen, have spent the last week as interns for the non-profit incubator Reach for Change. In the QVARTZ & Reach for Change internship, Emil, Lukas and six other students have worked alongside social entrepreneurs and experienced QVARTZ consultants to help them develop innovations that create a better world for children in Denmark.
Emil and Lukas’ focus has been to get to know the business of Reach for Change and understanding their main challenges, while receiving training from QVARTZ consultants on problem solving, structured communication and other valuable tools. “We got a lot of support from the consultants during the internship, and I feel that I’ve gotten a far better understanding of different problem-solving frameworks as well as hands-on tools, compared to what we learn at uni. It has definitely given me a more thorough view of management consulting”, says Lukas. Emil agrees: “It’s been a unique opportunity to experience the role of a consultant up close while working for a good cause. Working so closely with both the social entrepreneurs and QVARTZ consultants in creating concrete solutions and recommendations has been really valuable”, he says.
At QVARTZ, we are truly impressed by the curiosity, drive and analytical skills of the interns as well as the openness, engagement and enthusiasm of the participating social entrepreneurs; Reach for Change, Filiorum and Simpel Fitness. A big thanks to all of you for making the internship an iconic experience.
