Creating social impact in Zimbabwe
Last week, Morten Asplin Gauslaa, Søren Engelbrekt Nielsen and Salomon Winther Pedersen returned from Zimbabwe after two rewarding weeks supporting the Zimbabwe Agricultural Development Trust (ZADT). The purpose of ZADT is to provide financing for Zimbabwe's agricultural sector and thereby create social impact for smallholder farmers. This time, we supported ZADT by reviewing their strategy and business models, and optimized the fundraising process. Already two weeks before departure, we started looking into ZADT's investment strategy and fundraising plan as well as gathering insights from agribusiness experts. Arriving in Zimbabwe, we visited banks, embassies, charities, local farmers and produce companies – just to name a few of the stakeholders – before presenting our final recommendations to the ZADT board of directors who now feel they have a strategy to believe in and commit to. This was our third visit in Zimbabwe, and although the trip has come to an end, we will continue to support our friends from ZADT and hope to come back next year.
